Harrietville and the Victorian High Country

December 1, 2016Leave a commenton the road

A few years ago on another road trip we discovered the little gem of Harrietville, which lies at the base of Mt Hotham. We’d all been looking forward to going back as it has to be one of the most relaxing places on earth. The camp ground is set right along the Ovens River and when we were here last time, the kids filled their days floating down the rapids on inner tubes while Sean fished. Nothing has much changed, other than it’s a bit too cold for the kids to go in the water and there are LOTS more trout, possibly because there aren’t a heap of kids in the river!

We did a couple of day trips up to Mt Hotham and another to Falls Creek. Kids were happy to find big patches of snow on the mountains which kept them busy for a couple of hours.

We’re still running in the mornings, and it’s just so beautiful to get up & run with only the sound of the birds and the rapids through the snowy gums. A bit fresh, but it gets you going faster!

As one of our special places, we couldn’t resist the temptation of checking out a few blocks of land & farms for sale as well as the local school. Fishing, skiing and great food all in one place. Ticks a lot of our boxes. Watch this space…
