Edith Falls, NT

We headed up to Edith Falls for the long weekend and I think we all rate this as one of our best spots yet.

The bottom pool is a massive freshwater, croc safe (hopefully!) lake at the bottom of a gorge. It was about a 100m swim over to the water falls and the water was very cool and refreshing and an awesome spot to hang out. A 30 minute walk to the top of the falls were the upper pools which is one of the prettiest places we’ve been so far. There are lots of cascading waterfalls you can swim through and float down on some really gentle rapids. The scenery was just stunning – I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.

We did drive down to Katherine Gorge for the afternoon but it was a unanimous decision to get back to Edith Falls!

A funny aside was one of our camping neighbours. Poor girl, about 22 years old, turns up with a group of friends and had to spend the weekend walking around in a tiny little pair of swimmers with a Coke logo on her butt. On Day 3 Lucas finally said “I think I really like her Coke swimmers!”, Sean said he hadn’t noticed, HA! Nothing makes you feel old and frumpy like a bunch of hot chicks running round with G strings all weekend. Now I’m even sounding old and frumpy…I was so happy on the morning they left, when the poor girl put on a pair of shorts. I was just relieved she did own clothes after all!
