Mataranka and Bitter Springs

Mataranka thermal pools was OK, the kind of stop you have to do, so after the high of Daly Waters we thought we’d stay for a few days. It sells itself as “Mataranka Springs Resort” and it may well have been back in the 70’s during the last refurb… so one night was enough! The thermal pools themselves were OK. Very warm 30+ degrees but when it’s already 30+ degrees it loses it wow factor somewhat.  We also wandered up the road to Bitter Springs, which was also lovely, but given they’d recently removed a croc, I can’t say it was particularly relaxing.

We’ve also since found out that we were quite lucky to have the place to ourselves as in another month or so the buses arrive and it’s elbow room only in the pools….so I’ll stop whinging!

I think the highlight for Sean was the wash bay where the Jeep & the Van got a good scrub and we dropped a sand dune worth of red dirt…
