Robe is a lovely little seaside town and we found a gorgeous little camp ground tucked in out of the wind where we were able to have a campfire at night – finally! We managed to find a dodgy packet of marshmallows in the local grocers (I wasn’t game to look at the expiry date!) and we enjoyed our 14 year wedding anniversary with a roast lamb and a nice bottle of red.
After a relaxed couple of nights, with lots of camp fire shenanigans, we asked the kids who was excited to be headed up to the desert. It was a resounding “NO” “Not me” “People die in the desert!” OK….I have to admit they were echoing my sentiments too. Taking off into the unkown, with 3 kids is pretty overwhelming. How hot is it, exactly? Are there supermarkets, or acess to fresh foods? What happens if there are issues with the car? Can we get lost? What if we hate it? I gguess if we paid too much attention to the what if’s, we never wuld be doing this in the first place, but I have to admit, this time I was kind of with the kids on this one. We are a family of beach bunnies, please don’t make us go through the desert!
