We headed up the coast after spending the past week in the beautiful Huon Valley to a place called Snug. Just up the road from the ferry to Bruny Island.
Once again the weather was just outstanding as we headed across to Bruny on the ferry. Water crystal clear and not a cloud in the sky. The water was like a mirror. Days like this Bruny Island is a very liveable place and would make for the most amazing weekender perched along the shores. The problem is the other 9-10 months can be extreme.
After arriving we made a short stop so that Ashton could dial in for a video conference with his distance ed classmates and teacher before heading down the road to sample some local oysters at ‘Get Shucked’. 10 years ago when we were last here the current owners had just purchased the place and where selling the most amazing oysters out of a tin shed. Now it is a very busy oyster cafe including a very convenient drive thru. So we settled in for a few dozen oysters and a couple of Pagen ciders to wash them down. Great way to start the day. Next a km or two down the road we visited the cheese factory to sample some more local produce, thumbs up there also!
OK enough of the food so we spent the rest of the day burning it off. Checking out where the penguins live, teaching the kids what a isthmus is, Cloudy Bay, Bruny Island Lighthouse and a couple of bush walks.
The blue of the sky looks out of this world, you can almost see through to space!
Not jealous, not at all…
It’s amazing isn’t it! We’ve already realised that it’s pretty much a given that we’re never going to find an Australian beach that isn’t stunning. Love where we live!
Love the blog guys. Am so jealous of the beautiful beaches and places you’ve been.
Keep up the photos. I can live vicariously through them until my next holiday. Whenever that is!!
