SP: Day 2 Cradle Mountain was all about Australia Day (Happy Australia Day everyone!) and conquering Marion’s Lookout, part of the Overland Track to Lake St.Clair. The boys wanted to climb, the more vertical the better. Maybe something to do with me mentioning the boys should try some parkour for fun. Lucas is solid on his feet when it comes to climbing just about anything but the other two??
Anyway we decided to give it a crack and we all loved it. I think it would be one of the best walks on the trip so far, the scenery was sensational and the track always changing which was great for the kids. New challenge around every corner.
Once at Marion’s Lookout the boys had sights on the Cradle Mountain summit and their off! Fortunately I caught up to them just as they arrived at the small shelter at the base of this ropes and all climb and we started our walk back.
That arvo we headed off to a little place called Rosebury, a mining town with a pub, free camp site and a skate park. What more do we need really. Kyles and I decided to mix it with the locals at the Rosebury pub for a couple of Australia Day beers and to check out the massive stag heads on the wall while the kids tried their luck on the metal skate ramp for an hour. Day finish off listening to the JJJ top 20. Good as gold!!
